Senior Investigator and Chief of Energy Metabolism Section

Kong is trained as a biomedical engineer and a clinical investigator (from Vanderbilt University). He is a senior clinical investigator and chief of Energy Metabolism Section in the Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity Branch, and director of Human Energy and Body Weight Regulation Core of the NIDDK Intramural Research Program. He co-directs the Metabolic Clinical Research Unit at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda Maryland. Kong’s research focus is advancing sensor technologies and analytical methods to monitor free-living physical activity and sleep and understanding physiological mechanisms of regulating energy balance and body weight in humans.
