Marta Karas a 5-th year Ph.D. candidate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Biostatistics. At Hopkins, she is a part of Wearable and Implantable Technology lab that focuses on developing methods and analysis of data collected with wearable devices in health studies. Her statistical methods interests include: power estimation in complex settings, methods for processing, features extraction and analysis of accelerometry data, causal inference, machine learning, R software development. She received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland in 2013 and 2015. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, she worked as a Research Assistant at Indiana University and as an analyst for Opera Software Internet browser company. In her free time, Marta enjoys connecting with people and running. She completed her first full marathon in 2017 in Denver, CO.
